As electronic manufacturing continues to evolve toward thinner, lighter, and higher-precision designs, PCB structures are increasingly trending toward reduced thickness. The depaneling process plays a critical role in determining the overall quality and stability of SMT production lines.
Conventional depaneling methods predominantly rely on routing. For PCBs with a thickness above 1 mm and relatively simple structures, routing technology is mature and cost-effective. However, as products move toward thinner designs, this mechanical contact–based depaneling method gradually reveals limitations in terms of stress transmission, dust control, and edge consistency fluctuations caused by tool wear. These issues become more pronounced in high-precision applications and represent potential risks to stable SMT line operation.
In response to these process challenges, Youngpool Technology has introduced the LD-4 Inline Laser PCB Depaneling Machine, specifically designed to meet the depaneling requirements of thin and precision PCBs. Equipped as standard with a 60 W green laser, the LD-4 adopts a non-contact laser cutting process, eliminating reliance on mechanical force during depaneling. This fundamentally reduces the impact on solder joints, components, and circuit traces, making it particularly suitable for applications with stringent requirements for edge quality and consistency.
By combining galvanometer scanning with graphical programming, the LD-4 Inline Laser PCB Depaneling Machine can flexibly accommodate complex board outlines while maintaining cutting accuracy consistently within 0.05 mm. The integrated intelligent dust extraction system removes debris in real time during depaneling, minimizing the impact on the optical system and the production environment. Its compact mechanical design and multiple safety protection features also facilitate rapid integration into existing SMT production lines.
